14 May 2018: Victoria – Brunswick West – Coover’s first Active Wall Panels (AWPs) go up at Brunswick West basement. Prefabricated VMS panels (single combined active venting and barrier membrane panel) are delivered to site in the morning and then quicky fixed into position, CQA passed and are then ready for final shotcrete spray next day ….not the usual weeks or months ….a very happy piling contractor and client ! Real VMS innovation and I dare to say a worlds first VMS design that will possibly change the way we protect our basements from lateral Vapour Intrusion risk.

22 February 2018: Coover provisionally appointed by Fusion to design and construct a sub-slab VMS for a residential development in Sunshine adjacent to the former Massey Ferguson site which following recent investigations by EPA was found to contain elevated levels of TCE in groundwater and soil vapour. The proposed development comprises 44 townhouses and 12 units across a site area of approximately 8400m2. In consultation with the appointed EPA Auditor, builder and structural engineers, Coover developed a low cost, scalable and highly effective venting solution comprising a sacrificial void forming system beneath each building. VMS construction works scheduled for June 2018 following EPA Auditor approval of VMS Design and CQA Documentation as part of a 53X Environmental Audit.
