Vapour Mitigation Experts

Coover was founded by Ivan Devcic (Contaminated Land) and David Pedley (HVAC/Building Construction) in response to the emerging global awareness and concerns relating to Vapour Intrusion. We identified that by better integrating science, engineering and building construction processes, we could deliver more confident, reliable and verifiable solutions that protect buildings and living spaces from harmful ground gas vapour intrusion. This can be in the form of hydrocarbons, BTEX, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), PCE, TCE and other chlorinated hydrocarbons (CHCs), methane, landfill gas, CO² and CO which are commonplace in redeveloping post industrialised urban environments. Our integration of science, engineering and building construction principles enables Coover to deliver;

Coover’s directors, Ivan Devcic and David Pedley, are highly experienced and are actively involved in each project from start to finish. They guide and coordinate our internal and external teams and collaborate with key stakeholders (client, builder and EPA Auditors/Certifiers) throughout the entire VMS design, construction and commissioning processes. Coover is also proudly 100% Australian-owned and operated.

Our Directors

Ivan Devcic – Principal Scientist

Ivan Devcic has a Bachelor Degree in Science (La Trobe University), Graduate Diploma in Environmental Management (Victoria University) and has over 25 years in contaminated land assessment, remediation and management. Ivan is also the Managing Director of Alliance EPM P/L which is a leading contaminated project management consultancy assisting clients such as IKEA, Coles, CSR, McDonalds, Goodman, NAB, SJB, ABC, Probuild, Icon, CHT Architects, Grain Corp, Maben, CBUS, QIC, Tract, Blue Earth and Woolworths.

At Coover, Ivan’s role is to review existing site assessment information, develop a site conceptual model (SCM) for the project, quantify vapour intrusion (VI) risk and together with a team of internal and external scientists and engineers, develop tailored and cost-effective risk mitigation solutions which are EPA Auditor compliant and verifiable upon completion. Ivan is also actively involved in Coover’s VMS R&D and construction quality assurance (CQA) programs.

David Pedley – Construction Manager

David Pedley is a qualified and licensed HVAC/Mechanical Services Plumber with over 30 years in building and construction and mechanical services. As Coover’s Construction Manager, David’s role is to review building construction plans and programs, facilitate the design and integration of the VMS into the building design plus organise and co-ordinate all on-site VMS construction activities with the project’s appointed builder, architect and engineers. David also actively participates in Coover’s ongoing R&D program and testing of new VMS materials and technologies.
